Based close to Frankfurt in Germany, Horst is a family business established over 40 years ago. Currently with over 80 employees the company has an extensive catalogue of heating solutions as well as offering bespoke made-to-order products. Their products are applicable to a range of applications. While vacuum bakeout is the most relevant to VSM Instruments, other application areas include heating solutions for the semiconductor, automotive, chemical and environmental industries.

Horst’s specially adapted heating elements help to achieve ultra-high vacuum conditions by heating vacuum chambers sufficiently to desorb water and other contaminants from the chamber walls so that they can be pumped away. Following bakeout a pressure improvement of at least 1-2 orders of magnitude is achieved, which is desirable for many research applications.
