CreaTec

CreaTec Fischer GmbH is a leading German company specialising in the development and manufacturing of advanced thin-film deposition and scanning probe microscopy equipment. With a strong foundation in precision engineering and innovation, the company serves research institutions, universities, and industries worldwide, delivering solutions tailored to the forefront of material science and nanotechnology.

At the heart of CreaTec Fischer GmbH’s product portfolio are their sources and complete systems for Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE). MBE is a state-of-the-art technique for thin-film deposition that allows precise control over the growth of materials at the atomic level. This technique is critical for the fabrication of high-purity, epitaxial layers used in semiconductors, quantum materials, and nanostructures. CreaTec’s MBE systems are designed to meet the exacting demands of modern research, providing flexibility, exceptional stability, and compatibility with a wide range of materials.

Additionally, CreaTec is well known for its expertise in Low-Temperature Scanning Probe Microscopy (LT-SPM). LT-SPM allows researchers to investigate surfaces and material properties with atomic resolution, even at cryogenic temperatures. This capability is essential for exploring quantum phenomena, superconductivity, and nanoscale electronic structures. CreaTec’s LT-SPM systems combine high precision with user-friendly interfaces, enabling groundbreaking research in fundamental physics and advanced material characterisation.

Through their focus on customisation, reliability, and robust customer support, CreaTec Fischer GmbH empowers researchers to push the boundaries of innovation.

CreaTec has two locations in Germany, the Erligheim factory focusses on MBE systems and components, while their LT-SPM systems are assembled at the facility in Berlin.

Effusion Cells are used in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) evaporation systems, for example in MBE (Molecular Beam Epitaxy) to generate ultrapure molecular and atomic beams from a large variety of elements and compounds. They are sometimes known as K-Cells or Knudsen Cells. In the product table you can see a range of different cells we can offer to evaporate almost every material. Temperatures range from: -60 °C to 2400 °C

Our range of e-beam evaporators are designed to evaporate low vapour pressure materials. The material is heated in a localised area by an electron beam produced from a filament biased relative to the rod of the desired material or to a crucible containing it. Our smaller sources are typically optimised for highly controlled deposition of very thin layers in the range of a monolayer or a few nm onto smaller flag-style samples. As the sources get larger, material capacity and possible sample size increases accordingly.

The CreaTec MiniMBE System is specially designed for Molecular Beam Epitaxy growth on small, typically flag style, samples in combination with a reduced size of the system compared to typical MBE systems. The system still has space to accommodate up to 11 effusion cells around a larger central port for a plasma source or e-beam evaporator. The small chamber size compared to typical MBE systems has advantages for ease of integration with other systems, less lab floor space and of course lower running costs.

The combined low-temperature scanning tunneling and atomic force microscope (LT-STM/AFM) is an essential part of CreaTec’s product range. In addition to its nanoanalytical capabilities, it allows the precise manipulation of atoms and molecules at
temperatures in the range of 4 to 300 K. The fully compatible low-temperature atomic force microscope (AFM) allows simultaneous measurements of force and tunneling current without cross-talk using constant frequency or constant height control.
